Raoul Duke - completely irrational

A small interview snippet from “Buy the ticket, take the ride” about Hunter S. It’s not always about drugs & insanity.  Sometimes its about finding new & special ways of spreading your first amendment rights anonymously.  Posting from a home computer these days provides little or no anonymity whatsoever.  So i began my search for another way of spreading the gospel (should i be stopped from doing it in my traditional way of posting from home).

“Wardriving is the act of searching for a wireless network by moving, or stationary vehicle. It involves using a vehicle and a Wi-Fi-equipped computer, such as a laptop or a PDA, to detect the networks. It is similar to using a scanner for radio.” 

So basically you drive until you find someone else’s internet connection, & hook the fuck up.

So I spent about 2 weeks looking up information, most of it was absolute bullshit geek crap.  There is a large network of geeks who “war drive” simply to find these hot spots and then not use them.  What the fuck man?  Go out & look for the golden goose & then not fuck it?  Are you insane you little star trek fan losers?

After sorting through all the geek “no hacking” information out there I’ve found the proper tools needed.  First thing you’re going to need is a really good wireless card.  I found a 200mw card (which is the most powerful card legally available on the u.s. market).  It’s made by a company called Senao.

Next you will need a antenna to place on top of your car, from 7dbi to 12dbi.  The higher the dbi the better.  This antenna will have a cord & connector which you then connect to one of the existing screw in holes on the wireless card. Plug it in the laptop & bada bing! There are also antennas that are small & are meant to just attach directly to your laptop which probably won’t pick up as much of a connection but may be fine for a college campus etc.
You should now be able to catch a connection in any neighborhood, car park, bus stop, gas station, industrial park, etc.   Anywhere someone has a linksys modem setup on default (which is like everyone) you will be able to catch an internet connection.  You want t
The whole setup should run you about $70 if you find it on ebay. Now I’m still a newbie at this so I will post information as I learn.  Including the right software to use, how to use it, & how to find/keep a connection while driving down the interstate at 55mph.

Theres something sexually arousing about a well made Russian AK47. One of the most sought-after & useful tools ever made for the worlds enforcing. So i started my holiday shopping.  And of course being the odd person I am, I keep odd friends.  These friends like the same stuff I do, dope, guns & pussy.  So I found these really cool mini-mac’s i thought you guys might like to see them.

Fuck grab a pair of these & you would look like Neo in the matrix.  A couple of real crowd pleaser’s if i may say so myself.

Now I’m thinking for another friend, a few tablets of pharmaceutical grade dilaudid might be nice to chew on around the chestnut roast.  Most of you have probably never tried dilaudid, but its the closest thing to heroin you will ever get in a hospital.  I would say its 15x stronger than morphine, to the point where its extremely labored breathing on injection.  It is also the best feeling in the fucking world hands down, probably even more so than an orgasm.  So if you ever get your hands on some, do it once & quit!  I don’t want anyone here in gonzo-world turning into a raging heroin addict (honestly i don’t care haha).

Bill Murray plays Hunter S. Thompson in this 1980 masterpiece of a film, based on his book on the 1970’s Nixon campaign. Co-star Peter Boyle puts in a great performance as Thompsons lawyer & somewhat insane Mr. Carl Lazlo, Esq.

This movie came nowhere near the popularity of Fear & Loathing in Las Vegas, however it holds its own, as the very first motion picture based on the life of Hunter S. Thompson, minus his alter ego Raoul Duke.  I suggest any of you new fans just getting into Gonzo grab this off netflix immediately.  If you’re from another country with no video stores, i do believe there are open signups at demonoid.com on fridays, where you can find a downloadable copy of the film.

Enjoy the movie, its seriously some of Bill Murray’s best work to date (outside of Caddyshack of course).

Heres a great Raoul Duke / Hunter S. Thompson characterization i found on Google images earlier tonight.  I thought you might all enjoy it, i actually set it as my desktop.  I think i will begin posting several of these images a day, just to get the Duke theme rocking.

As rapper Snoop Dogg had his civil rights violated with a concurrent search warrant dating back to his previous arrest this year for possession of marijuana & a collapsible baton that was to be used for a movie prop.  Visitors and even Jay Leno himself were held from leaving the studio parking areas as police gave an unreasonably long search to Snoop Dogg’s car.

Whats so suprising about all of this you say?  Not only was snoop’s car searched, but several other people residing in the state of California who merely “associated” with snoop, had their homes & vehicles searched without probable cause.  Leading me to believe Arnold and the gang are merely facist nazi’s at heart.  But these guys have made one mistake, they’ve gone after a rich black man this time.  And we all know how rich black men fair in the California judicial system.

Hunter S. Thompson would be rolling over in his grave at this news (laughing no doubt).

I find far too many sites on the internet today, with shady information about Hunter S. Thompson, and what he was all about. In fact many people on the net refer to Raoul Duke as Duke Raoul, which i find quite amusing. An entire generation growing up only knowing the man behind fear & loathing in las vegas. I fear too many even associate Johnny Depp with his masterpiece. Although played magnificently by Depp, it really takes away from a history of gonzo journalism. Too many people associate smoking a joint, with gonzo journalism. It in fact has lost its heart in American literature, polluted with tails of ether soaked rags.

People should see Thompson for his greatest accomplishment. His ability to function within the walls of justice, as a complete & total negative to all things that stood for social conformity. Notice i say Social conformity, because he understood the laws of physics perfectly fine & never questioned them.

I really think thats the point lost about Hunter S. Thompson & his alter ego Raoul Duke. It forever transformed the publics conception finally of what was possible at the very outer shell of our psyche . Because in the end, we’re all just beasts, with curiosity, and selfish yet primal objectives, and he was just the one able to describe it vividly in words. Thus creating gonzo.
